Almost every fake 1/2 cent I've seen has problems with the "L", and many look like yours. IMHO, this coin is 100% fake.
Impossible to tell from that photo, but my gut feeling is that it is too far gone...

Well, $36.00 seems to be near the bottom of the "sell price" on eBay, so that amount offered from a dealer isn't too bad.
