So Monster Box™ is actually a registered trademark, but Monster Box Collection™ isn't. These should be sent back to ANACS as mechanical errors...
If you're referring to the gouge by the wreath not being there, check VAM 6C and 6D.
For a second, I thought you were referring to a specific Laura well-known to the hobby, but then I realize you meant the actual hurricane.
I probably joined out of curiosity after having participated in the CU forum for a little while, but even way back then it was referred to as...
Take a look at the VAM 6 overdates. The mark on the denticles is nothing more than a mark on the denticles.
You have doubling all the way around the left side of the 2nd 8, around the top of the 2, and at the lower serif of the 2. The mint mark is...
I guess to leave scars marks like this, it would have to have a corrosive in contact with the coin like a rubber band. Other black spots that...
I agree. These bands (on the 02-O VAM 26 page) come from the die being slowly abraded while in service and are smooth and shiny.

They took the 7 off the hub in 1880, leaving a 18 that would be overpunched with a 4-digit date. Many 1880 dies were prepared by filling the 79...
The depth of the punched date, you mean? For 1880-83, there usually is a difference between the 18 and 8x. It's the most pronounced in 1880....
It's not strong, just a pale red swath through the hair if you follow the forehead hairline through the side of the head. Evaluating toned coins...
Picked up a nice toned 83-CC last week. PCGS 66. [IMG]
