Sounds loony to me. After any war, we tend to see the market flooded with coins from a country (even if it's just troops bringing back souvenirs).
The thing about toned coins is that they're not fixed / stable. You never know how they're going to look in a few months... much less a few years....
Anyone? This may need a bump...
No, he means that it is only worth whatever an ounce of silver is worth (aka, the "spot price" of silver). Many people have that attitutude about...
Beautiful pics! I have a MS63RD for comparison: [ATTACH][ATTACH]
Beautiful coin! I really like those & am saving up to get one. The 3 cent pieces are also very well done for a private coin of that time period.
I'm at a bit of a loss - who are the 5 "good" emperors? Would Marcus Aurelias make the cut?
I would go EF40, EF45, EF40 (the last is possibly weaker - there seems to be some mis-matched wear on the obverse). They may grade higher...
I picked up four in a lot last week. Is there an easy way to ID the 1949 specimen vs the general 1949 $1? [ATTACH][ATTACH] I can't tell...
Ah, cents and dollars only. Not much good for me. Thanks though!
Cool - interesting story there.
Are any of those half dineros the overdate varieties?
What is the current special? I have a few coins I'd like to get authenticated &/or graded.
Almost the entire US Philippines series underrated (in my opinion). You can buy MS65 examples of the 1944 coinage for below silver melt, and there...
Look at the field (blank area) with a high magnification lens. If you see brush marks, that's a pretty good indication of cleaning. If the coins...
I wouldn't get it slabbed. I picked one up (in an MS64 ANACs slab) for $40. The slab doesn't add much value until you reach 65 or higher for this...
Anyone know the battle referenced by the medal? Which line did he fight on all summer (1863? 1864?)?
I found one of these slabbed on eBay. The slab reads 1892-1893 IL E-214 AL I'm assuming IL = Illinois and AL = Aluminum. Is the E-214 an index...
Well, no matter how much you spend on shipping, it sounds like you end up pretty far ahead. So, I would spring for some high-end shipping and make...
I'm sorry to hear about that! I'm thinking about selling a few silver medals that I purchased recently (1.2 ounce sterling) at a club auction...
