88 D is not recognized for the wide AM as both 88 and 89 are wide AM's the transitional variety has to do with the FG.
This will explain them a little bit better. Certified by PCGS: Experimental State Quarters - The Only Known Complete Set of All 1999 Dated...
Here is a good read but not the coin world article I was looking for. Odd alloy State quarters: Collectors' Clearinghouse (coinworld.com)
Boy I didn't remember the mintages too well. It was the lowest mintage up until about 1991. For zlincolns that is. Should have left that one out....
$10 if it is in mint state. And it shows the heavy die abrasion. Don't fall into the ebay everything is worth a fortune thinking.
I have seen this before it is a combination of the luster being flattened on the high points of the devices and plating issues. Some back in the...
Agreed a partially plated cent will have the luster of a newly struck plated cent. your coin looks altered.

@Jack D. Young is that a repaired coin or a fake?
I didn't see any 67's in RB Eddie. 66 was the top. Could be the photos but I don't see the luster needed for a top pop. It is well struck and...
It does not look like an experimental planchet as GH#75 said. What is the weight?
