My guess was 62. All those little tics on the obv may be less obvious in hand.
Every situation is different. I think a good place to start, is to try to put yourself in the other person's shoes, and understand where they are...
Really bad fake coin. I thought the label looked wrong too
How did I miss this thread? I thought it was genuine before I saw the ANACS slab. MaineBill's comments were accurate imo.
I envy you New Englanders with your opportunity to find nice colonial coins in situ. About the nicest MD finds I've seen here in eastern Va. are...
I think F12 details, cleaned/scratched. Value for a G according to numismedia retail is about 30$. Retail, of course. I don't think the coin in...
I like the coin, 1st year of Civil War, good obverse strike, and not cleaned or dipped to death. A nice example!
attractive coin, average strike. The toning is in a nice crescent that accentuates the central design. It still isn't a coin that makes me say...

"The general who never lost a bottle," ha! That's a good one.
NIce looking old silver half. I'm partial to the 20/19 overdate.
I'll go with VG 10. Lots of dirt in the recesses, I doubt cleaned, photos just look a little washed out . Good luck on the grading submission!
Sorry, I don't have a slab photo. I'm thinking 35 seems about right, but again this isn't a series I know a lot about , and all the die clashing...
The person I bought it from said he thought it was a bit undergraded. Honestly, I think it looks about as nice as an XF40 for sale on a prominent...
NIce! I'll guess AU55.
it is in a straight graded holder. I have also looked at it closely under a point source light and don't see any signs of a cleaning.
I'll post the pcgs grade tomorrow evening. Thanks for all the guesses and comments so far.
uh-huh.
I'm not much of a CBH variety collector, but I like the ones with strong die clashes, the overdates, the "blundered" dates, coins that show how...
