Since I habitually undergrade these, I'm going to guess 65; I see some minor luster abrasions on the obv but no real marks. Strike is certainly...
Great looking half!
It's genuine. Is there some corrosion on the obverse? It looks like a lot of remaining detail but some areas are obscured.
Bruce Morelan just sold his 1794 SP 1$ to Great Collections for 12 million; he won it at auction for 10 million in 2013. 20% return in 9...
Die rust in that humid climate; no idea about grade

Thanks for bringing this thread back. It really deserves to be read again. I guess that whizzed & toned coins exist, but I think the main purpose...
Well, I'm late to the meeting, but I agree that the Peace is damaged (really sad!) and the Trade dollar is cleaned (long wispy marks in the fields).

A raw coin I bought years ago on eBay. It had some polishing in the fields and some rim issues, but still a lot of dirt in the crevices. Recently...
I can't see the S or the VDB really well, but the rims are really poorly made, grainy; and LIBERTY looks very mushy.
Funny, I had just pulled out a box of raw coins and found a 1794 I forgot I had. "ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR" on the edge. Nice thick coin.
Stunning rainbow toning, Larry. I don't recall seeing anything like that on a CBH before.
