Yes they did buy it back. They gave the owner what he paid for the coin. It developed the spot in the holder after it was slabed.
It looks like a proof. It has a proof reverse. But if it is not a proof it is a Type B reverse which would be even better.
Mike, I didn't think anyone took better pictures of coins than you. But now you have outdone yourself. Those are some great images.
Might be this guy. Matt Allman of Ashton, PA . He has PCI's website on his own server now. sunsetcoins.com
You got a Great Deal there.:thumb:
It's basically just an ugly coin with fresh rim damage. I'd pass if I were you.JMO
PCI to be auctioned off Jan. 16, 2008 Heres what you get. Any guesses who will be the winning bidder?...
Mike, I have heard of this a lot. I don't think they will do it to toned or older coins. It is mostly modern coins such as Proofs with milk spots...
Please grade and give your opinions on this new Large Cent. [IMG]

Mike you sure are coming up with some nice coins. I am going to say AU58 but with the marks on the cheek I would call it a 55. I bet NGC called it...
Mike, you say you paid strong VF money for the coin.I don't know what guide you are going by but I have recently started collecting Capped Bust...

It all depends on the coin. Most of these older slabs have been Cherry picked already.
