Not a coin I'm interested in collecting, so only gave it a 3. This is a good looking coin though. No problems with that.
Tough call. The second one has better centering and slightly sharper corners, but the 3 folds stand out more. Grade for grade the top one valued...
Maybe PCGS Photograde online or similar would help.
First I've heard of this, Thanks for the info. Always learning.
Yeah, Look at the right side of the large reverse pic. Click on it and enlarge it.
The Hobo Nickel by Joyce Ann Romines is another good reference book.
JCro57, we're not normal anymore.
We need a GO FUND ME Forum. Post the link to your own.
I say: Altered. Too much going on in the date area, and hardly anything else on the rest of the obverse. Plus the reverse is normal.

That's got to be the oddest looking sub I've seen. What's that weird hump?
Steampunk jewerly.:borg:
Coin A looks kinda mushy.
Peeps, my wifes favorite.

There is an G.W.Akin from Waldenboro Maine that counterstamped Large Cents. He was a Silversmith in the 1860s. You anywhere near there?
Nice find. Soon as these spring rains quit I'll be out.
