Do you think it's something other than or in addition to a struck through grease error?
Nice find. :) It's a "struck through grease" error. What happens is that some grease gets into the die where the letters were and clogs it up...
Right... PCGS population for this variety is 2... this coin and (another coin or a resubmission of this coin)?
Population 2. :) Any chance both of them are actually this coin?
Agreed. No jackpot, but a cool circulation find nonetheless.
I know a guy who uses that exact phrase. Is his name Richard by any chance? The guy I'm thinking of has some pretty high quality, affordable...
I'll buy any coin raw from a dealer I trust who offers a personal guarantee of authenticity (though these might get sent in at a later date)....
Also, please make sure your pictures are in focus and showing the coin straight on, with images of both sides (the Indian side and the buffalo side).
Your picture didn't post. I'm rooting for you. :)
I think a 10% premium is worth it for such a sharply struck Walker of *any* date. Check out how few Walkers you can actually see the thumb on.

QFT. There's a reason they're called price guides, and that's because they should be used as a guide. EBay, Heritage, PCGS auctions, Redbook,...
Looks like a dryer coin to me.
I don't think that's true. Several Ionian coins have distinct obverse and reverse designs dating from ~600 BC.
It's only "guess" if it's already certified. Kinda hard to guess a grade when there isn't one assigned. :p (Ya, ya, I know, we could guess what...
Considering you can get a problem-free AU55 for around $50 on eBay, I'd pass. I don't know much about pricing errors, but this misaligned die...
I'd say your assessment is about right. I'd say it's got about AU55 detail, and I'd call the rim ding simply "damage" instead of "environmental...
Current melt on a half dollar is $7.16. 14.5x face is reasonable; 9x is a steal.
I'm not sure where you're looking, but on eBay, MS63 graded 1878-CC Morgans with nothing special going on (GSA, toning, etc.) seem to be going for...
