Your probably on to something. Old time dealers like Thomas Elder suggested coin collecting for boys and young men for those same reasons.
IMO EF-45 is the ideal grade. An uncirculated coin never had a job. It spent it's life eating Chese Whiz and watching Jerry Springer re-runs.
