Something to consider is the number of coins struck per die. In the case of 1908, Rick Snow's guide estimates 400,000-500,000 coins were struck...
A very interesting group of coins! :thumb: You may have noticed this already, but your 1840 8R might be an overdate--1840/39 perhaps? [IMG]
A very interesting coin--perhaps photos can be posted here? :) I wonder if this coin is a doubled die versus a double-struck coin? When a coin is...
Jim, I honestly did not see the RPD before your coin, but now that I compare the two I see evidence of the 1 left on the OP's coin, which might be...
Jim, The RPD is pretty obvious on your coin--that's a wide repunching! :thumb: I can just see it on the first coin...obviously the same die.
Very nice! :thumb: I agree--it would be nice as a clock too, and the denticles could be stained differently at hour increments.
Thanks...this is my best overdate find to date. :D
Ever since I found a 1906 2 Ore with a prominent "flag" on the 6 in the date, I have been studying these details for evidence of the 1906/5...
That's a great coin! :thumb:
Nice. :thumb: I've found a few like that. It may be possible that one is sitting in a dealer album somewhere because those varieties are generally...
Here's a coin I picked up today. This one's fun because the overdate is so obvious. :D [IMG]
I guess proof LMCs show machine doubling too?
I honestly don't have an "easy fix" for eBay because I think it's flawed at the ground level; cynicism at the top leads to cascading problems....
It strikes me that eBay has taken a top-down approach with a business model that would work best at the community level. By imposing a structure...
Thanks again! I'll post my 1906/5 2 Ore soon...I found that one at the same table. :D
Thanks...I'm actually pretty amazed I spotted this one. Thankfully the lighting was good.
We can only hope, LOL. The VF coin below would probably fetch today upwards of AUD $200K.
If you ever see a KGV HK coin with that particular bust, that would be one to keep! I know of an Australia halfpenny from 1916, which is a mule...
That NFLD cent is simply stunning! I have never seen one that nice. I wonder what ICCS would grade that--MS65-66?
Very nice token--the detail on the grasshopper is impressive. Obviously, the engraver cared enough to study an actual grasshopper--or work from an...
