#6 got my attention too--but I'd like any in my collection.
My Snow guides don't list a premium for it, but then again maybe some collectors like it...
Here’s a recent find off eBay--the Snow-1 1893/189 (s). I lucked out--it turns out the coin looks much better in-hand than the auction photos....
Yep--nice clear example of the defective punch and Longacre outlines. :)
I agree--it looks like the S-6. In Snow's book, it's called a 1-star variety, with some collector interest and premium. I can't quite tell what's...
Yep...the 3/3 is pretty unique and easy to confirm this variety.
Wow--great coin and details Steve!
What I'm striving for in my method is a lighting effect similar to axial lighting, but instead of putting an optical beamsplitter between the coin...
Thanks everyone for your welcomes! :D Nice shots Doug! Yes, I mostly use this method to capture details on higher-relief coins, including...
I've been away from CoinTalk for a while. This is a new picture of one of my favorite coins. I really like the patina on this one! :) I shot...
Those trachys are interesting--quite a presence in-hand--and nice details.
Thanks...I've always needed to be a good swimmer. While I haven't bought any new ancients recently, I've developed a way to render and display...
Hey Steve, Bing...I have 'jumped ship' so to speak--for good. lol
LOL...no doubt, that was more a benefit for engravers of dies--or the related business of intaglio carving (signets) [IMG]
Wow...it's amazing the detail die engravers could get in these rather small coins!
This is the Snow-1 1888/7 all day long--and worthy of a special mention. The 8/7 area is clean and obvious--confirmed by the date position as...
Wow Steve...only 32mm? It still has real clout and presence! I like that cobra too!
Wow--some nice owls here! Here's my Athenian owl. I wanted one for years, and was very happy I found one without test cuts. Athena is a bit...
Wow--that is one small coin Steve! This is probably my smallest--an ancient coin: Thrace, Cherronesos hemidrachm, 400-350 BC Rev: Bee, Size: 13...
I think the doubling on this one is trick of the light. The date position is different from the Snow-1, and the DDO markers are absent. [IMG]
