Interesting. I didn't know there was an Arctic Service medal. I'll have to look that up and see what was required to earn it. In my Ft. Wainwright...
Nope. Summer only so no Winter Over bar. I was at Pole Station from 1 November 1968 until about 15 February 1969. Obviously I never saw the sun...
I was awarded the two you showed (US Army) plus one more. It is a military/civilian medal -- Antarctic Service (I got mine as a civilian). I also...
I see it as a low VF (-20 or -25).
I would have guessed folded fins.
As far as SL issues are concerned, I have one of each design variety for each face value. They are for my type set. I also have (to the best of...
Flynn has a boatload of guides out. I've got his 2¢, silver 3¢ and nickel 3¢ books. And I know there are more. That many makes me suspicious of...
Paddy, is there a definitive reference for SL Half Dimes? I've got the Logan-McCloskey reference but that only goes through Capped Bust Half Dimes.

I can't disagree with you since I don't collect WLH's. But "remarkably strong for" is a relative thing. It's still weak compared to the intended look.

Ah ha!!! Links that don't work.
Is this what you want? http://oldcurrencyvalues.com/north_africa_currency/
So you're from Texas :D I know who you are referring to. I've bought most of my Early Copper from him.
I'm getting ready to identify the die varieties of Braided Hair Large Cents (1839-1857). I've got the full Red Book listed set. Now I have to try...
I can remember when gold was about $46/oz (~1963). And silver was about $50/oz (~1980).
Separate names with a comma.
