First off, my coin is a dime. It is the same diameter as other dimes and has a sort of flattened rim, so I thought that it was a struck T1 blank....

It appears to be a clashed die. It happens when the dies strike each other without a planchet between them.

It does not appear to be a rim cud from the picture. Maybe a nick.
I assume you are referring to the "blob" above the left branch, it looks like a die chip or a cud.
