I think the rim dings do keep it from grading at the grading companies.
I was thinking the same thing Mike. These coins are notorious for being poorly mixed and full of impurities. That would be my guess as well.
It is thought that the "Cheerios Dollars" were struck with the same die pair that struck the gold pieces.

That is entirely possible. You know I defer to you on things like that. I was told by the seller that he had it holdered in the early 90's at least.
