I have the Diffenbacher book. It is very useful... But it's a VERY hard book to find as my copy was printed in 1965.
This is definitely a die struck piece.
The acid test will tell you if the piece you sampled I'd gold or if it is just plated.
A genuine coin was used for this copy. This would explain the mark.

The $20 looks suspicious. Slightly mushy devices... lacking the really cracking luster... Not 100% it's bad... but probably 90% I get a better...
Damage? Not by anyone I know... But I do know there are people out there who can fix certain types of coins with issues.
Unfortunately once the surface has been impaired... there isn't much that can be done to fix it.
Yes it is improperly cleaned. Anything that alters the surface of the coin is improper. This coin was probably given a quick polish with a polish...
Yep, this is one of the middle eastern counterfeits. I'm sure that good close ups would reveal a tell or 2.
I think Occams Razor carved a little X on the reverse of this coin. I'll be the contrarian here... I would not be happy if I purchased this coin...

Last I checked the fees in the coins and currency section of eBay is 7%. Different items actually have different fee structures. Paypal is 2.9%....
