It's possible the obverse pits near the ear are "as made" planchet voids. Hard to say from a picture. Personally, my best guess is it's post-mint...
I would say that coin has 10 details, deductions for obverse corrosion pits and reverse rim hit, net 6. CQR lists it at $85, but somehow I doubt...
Yes, it is an overdate. That's Sheldon-281 (Breen-1), rarity 1. It bears no premium for rarity, but I must say it's quite a nice specimen. It has...
What the heck... I'll post up a "steal" (photos come later). It's a rare die variety cherrypicked from a large lot of type coins - an 1837 half...
The coin was scanned, not photographed; that tends to throw off the color. NNC is a junk grading "service". Treat the coin as raw, as if the slab...

Genuinely sorry to hear about this, Charmy. My prayers go out to you and yours. I agree. I'm sure it was quite a shock to see the car's damage;...

Hard to tell from the photo. The obverse has VF20+ detail, but I'm guessing much of the lacking detail is due to poor strike. Reverse maybe VF35....
"Fabulous" is a good starting point ! :thumb: As for my favorite... tough call, but gotta choose the '37 proof. Best detail.
Haven't seen an update on this, either on this thread or the PCGS website. I would think January 7th Orlando FUN convention would be the time to...
Fantastic ! I bet that was a thrill. I suppose it is an F-02. It's also Head of 1836, which I personally think is cool. Congrats on the...
By this thinking, the Girl Scouts discriminate against boys. In fact, the many things which are "women only" - and they are many - discriminate...

Nice coin. Favorite type. One of the best. Saint Gaudens design !
DEC 25 = decimal 25 = base 10 = what you're used to OCT 31 = octal = base 8. 8x3 = 24 + 1 = 25 so DEC 25 = OCT 31 Us nerdy engineers....
That's certainly great advice. Cali fractional gold was crudely made, which complicates matters; a crude fake isn't so conspicuous next to crude...
Interesting to note that in the early days the mint simply stored the dies in the coiner's vault. They were still serviceable. Which led to some...
