This IS obscure for sure, but interesting.
Again, I'm not 100 percent since the coin is in rather rough shape. But thank you.
The griffin is nice enough all by itself, but the field marks both obverse and reverse make this a fantastic pickup.
Another nice looking coin. The reverse has a lot of detail remaining for a Sestertius.
Look at this page on wildwinds.com for RIC 267: http://wildwinds.com/coins/ric/hadrian/i.html or at this particular link:...
I have it attributed as RIC 267: Hadrian Denarius. HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, laureate head right / SALVS AVG, Salus standing right, holding...
Not a bad coin. Do you have it attributed?
I'm not 100 percent but I believe your coin is: Constantine I, AE follis, Rome, 316-317 AD. IMP CONSTANTINVS PF AVG, laureate, draped, cuirassed...
Thanks everyone for the coin compliments. However, I was also hoping to get some kind of confirmation or non-agreement with the "down arrow"...
Nice coin. I need to obtain more coins of Gordian III. I keep ignoring him when I look and I really cannot account for the why of it.
I haven't heard this name in a while. I choked on my beer when I read that. Here is my coin: [ATTACH] [ATTACH] MYSIA AR Hemiobol OBVERSE:...
Last month I purchased this L Calpurnius Piso Frugi Roman Republic Denarius from a seller in Japan. It took less than two weeks for it to arrive,...
I guess you have two threads about the same coin. Regardless, I still like this coin ;)
I would welcome this example in my small RR collection.
Interesting and appealing coins Doug. It's the portraits, as you say, that makes them appealing to me as well. They seem different from the usual.
Ain't that the truth!:p
I know he owns at least one. Very interesting coin.
I don't collect these, but this one makes me want to take a second look. Nice pickup.
:banghead: I can't find anything like it.
