This is what the date should look like. All the numerals are thin and dainty. Looks to me like the high points took on some wear making it look...
That is the rule that I have always used.
Bought my raw example fairly cheap. I think about 25$. My graded MS68 cost me a bit. But not the going rate on coinfacts. Nice looking example...
Also the surfaces do not look correct.. Look at the recessed E and P. More unplated copper.
That is a haze on the coin. It is the beginning stage of toning. MS70 will remove it, but make sure that you do a thorough rinse of the MS70.
I am thinking that there is just enough luster to make this MS66. Nice looking skin on that one.
Looks as if someone was trying to make a repouse type coin. Either way it was struck with some type of punch.
That is a centered broad strike. The collar did not employ during the strike.
