The top and bottom of the D should be parallel, and they don't look parallel on this coin. It looks like the bottom of the D is slanting upward....
Constans. Antioch, A.D. 347/8. Diademed head of Constans right / VOT XV MVLT XX in four lines within wreath; SMANI. RIC 116; LRBC 1399. Nice coin!
Great coins, Doug. The idea that an older coin was hammered out to make room for the Gallus certainly sounds plausible when you see a coin like...
Yeah. The only reason I don't have more is I can't seem to drop less than $75 on Greek coins that I like.
I have absolutely no coin of any relevance to post in this thread, so I'll post this nice big provincial sestertius, just because it arrived in...
Lol! Well...they are two completely different coins, but it IS a strange coincidence that TIF and Steve posted the same rather scarce and obscure...

If you can get your hands on a decent camera with macro focusing and post the pics of the coins you want to submit, the forum can give you advice....
Local Coin Store. Sometimes gets called B&M, brick and mortar.
I love tiny Greek bronzes, but they never look that great in large pics. That's not a criticism of your pic, of course - it's a nice image. But...
Yes, Gresham's law was fully in play. But the commemorative nature of the halves also inspired a lot of hoarding. Kennedy was quite popular and I...
Yes. Two soldiers one standard type. Antioch mint.
I agree. It's an elaborate coat of arms, and it didn't need to get smaller. The detail is definitely cramped.
Maybe you're seeing what you want, Steve. :p
