I have seen this before it is a combination of the luster being flattened on the high points of the devices and plating issues. Some back in the...
Agreed a partially plated cent will have the luster of a newly struck plated cent. your coin looks altered.
The 86' was a low mintage. The coin looks real nice for being a Zlincoln. What does the reverse look like? I have always stashed 86 and 86D's...
Very cool. Hopefully the kiddos take them home and put em somewhere safe.
I think they just call it rotated dies. Unless you pay for the extra on the label.
71 D Kennedy album. There are 5 different Pre cuds for 71D all having to do with the same area of the die. The weakness was the in the area of the...
I didn't even notice that this was in the ancient's forum. The experimental planchets were considerably heavier than a standard Quarter. (5.67g)...
Neat ACG slab Paddy. At a SP68 the fingerprint isn't so bad. I think I would still return it. The print will degrade over time.
The Fingerprint would drive me nuts Sting. I personally would return it. Especially on a low mintage Jefferson.
Fingerprints do not detail a coin. And can be found on high grade examples in most denominations.
Nice rotation Butter!
On a horizontal, I would say it is within specs. If you just have your terminology wrong, then the rotation would be significant.
@Jack D. Young is that a repaired coin or a fake?
I didn't see any 67's in RB Eddie. 66 was the top. Could be the photos but I don't see the luster needed for a top pop. It is well struck and...
It does not look like an experimental planchet as GH#75 said. What is the weight?
It's heat damage, and probably a bubble between the core and clad layer. A cud would show a weakness in the same area of the reverse. It is all...
I see a nice looking cent. I would put it in a flip or Whitman. RDV-001 was used from 1959 to 1969.
I say open it. What if there is another?
Thanks Mike
Ya know I would have just tossed that one into the spend jar, if it wasn't in high AU/MS condition. I wouldn't have even looked twice, but it...
