If I'm reading CoinFacts correctly, there are 33 in that grade. As concerns buying for future appreciation, sure, I went through a phase where...
This is a casting, as evident from the lack of sharp detail and the raised bumps here and there. The bumps are most easily seen left of the arrow...
I'll wait until others have looked it over and said their piece . . . and no, you're not a dummy. You at least want to know more.
I wouldn't buy this one . . ....
Rim shots . . . ba-dump-bump.
The rim tapers exactly as it should at all locations. I see no reason to question this coin as being a double clip.
That's not damage . . it's a second clip. There is very slight Blakesley effect opposite that clip as well.

Must be somethin' wrong with me . . . I like the before better than the after. :banghead:
Nice luster and a pretty good strike for the 1857. Were it not for the mark above the bow, I'd be all over it in a 65 holder. I think it's a 64+.
I've broached this idea more than once, and been ridiculed for having done so. Personally, I think it is the most sustainable solution.
I'll throw in my two cents here regarding the difference between lightly circulated coins and truly uncirculated coins having either cabinet...
