OK, my January submission was delivered today, and both of my February submissions for US and World are in Quality Control. I should be able to...
In 1917, Raymond T. Baker became the new Director of the Mint (March 1917 - March 1922). The previous Director of the Mint, F. H. von Engelken,...
I think the big dealers submitted a ton of coins.
Interesting, I wonder if the Director of the Mint was referring to proofs for 1916 only. If so, then that may explain why the 1917 figures show...
Yeah, I don't know why the Mint shows all minor coinage minted since 1793 - seems a bit overkill. But, at least they're keeping meticulous...
I have a status of "Quality Control" for my US submission and my World submission is "Scheduled for Grading", so there's no update yet. This was...
Yes, I was weeding out the various possibilities.
I just checked and the 1918 Mint report omits any mention of proof coins for minor coinage. So it looks like the year of the report applies to the...
Yeah that's a good point. I did check the 1916 mintages for the cent and nickel and they're at 600 each. I'm wondering if proofs were simply...
Just a PSA that there's a 15% eBay Bucks promotion right now. I'm not sure if it's available for everyone, but I got the message and activated...
Does anyone know the official reason stated by any of the major TPGs as to why no 1917 MPLs exist? Were they simply not formally issued to...

I know that NGC and PCGS don't recognize their existence. However, I discovered that the 1917 Annual report from the director of the Mint states...
What about those of whom that participated in the most recent Secret Santa? We all essentially traded right? I don't think there were any Grinches.
Nah, there are plenty to go around! :) It's just that it seems that many PL Columbians are way cheaper raw than when slabbed.
This time it's from 1892. These photos were taken with daylight diffused through a soft, half-transparent curtain, and it helped so much to bring...
From my perspective, it was like submitting a new ('87) ASE and getting back a 66 grade. I'm not an expert grader at all, but a 66 seems too...
Here's the other side... where did the ball hit - was it dead center? [IMG]
It's because the grade of 66 doesn't correspond with what I saw before submission. There were barely any marks whatsoever when I self-graded it...
Yeah I put down exactly what I paid for it. If I got it for even cheaper, I'd put down what it's actually worth.
