So I have an MS65BN 1886 Type 1 Indian Head Cent that is incorrectly designated as a MS strike. It is definitely a proof coin with medium...
also an 1885 proof. Colors are gorgeous. Cant really tell from the pictures, but there is a lot of neon green and blue on this coin....
1869 Indian. Very close to MS 65 full red! [ATTACH][ATTACH]
Looks like a greased filled die to me. Not a dramatic one, but it is even.
Here is a pretty dramatic struck through grease indian head cent. [ATTACH][ATTACH] They can be pretty neat.
Very Nice score. Hope you get a 64RB on it. Looks great form the pics in the auction. Tough variety!
Need to post pics for us to tell you what our opinion is on grade.
No problem. I thought I had an error too at first. I now know what to look for.
Reminds me of this. The coin looks to be Ex-encased in something to me. Indian Head Error? Possible lamination?
There is the back-end of the 1902. [ATTACH] And a few more, 1884 MS66RB, CAC. [ATTACH][ATTACH] 1893 MS65BN, CAC [ATTACH][ATTACH]
Some new Indians. 1903 - 66BN 1881 - 63BN 1902 - 65BN The 1881 has a very nice die break (maybe retained?) going through the shield on the...
Color looks MS to me. But I do see slight wear. it looks pretty lustrous from the pics provided as well.
I would grade it AU58 however I bet NGC would put a MS62 on it if it were sent to them. The strike is very weak on the reverse, and I do see the...
Of course there is value.....just not very much. I dont see any errors from your pictures. Just a common date wheaty worth a few cents.
I have found that clashed dies in the IHC series are not very rare. I have quite a few of them in high grades. I dont know about the date above...
Here is an MS63BN 1869/69, S-4, woody. Dont know why it graded MS 63 BN. Not a mark on the coin! [ATTACH][ATTACH]
Best I can say is an 1864 L IHC that I bought for $26 that came back MS63BN from NGC. Sold it though. Sorry no pics.
I'm done with NGC. My last batch of coins had two 1873 "doubled liberty" S-1 DDOs and they did not attribute either of them. They both graded good...
I will eventually send my album in to be graded. There is really something cool about opening up the front cover and seeing a bunch of Red/Brown...
My Dansco 7070 is nearing completion in high AU/MS grade coins. I have had the ability to travel a lot for my job the past three years, allowing...
