It looks either like a fairly circulated coin with alot of haymarking or light "Whizzing" or as many have said, a fake. Certianly the holder does...

Very nice 1/2 cent for $85. As everyone else, I would agree that it is NOT an AU, but you would really have to inspect it very carefully to be sure.
If it has cracks in it...it is not a die crack. If there are cracks in the die, it will be reversed upon the coins , so the lines were in relief....

I think some of those coins look very artificially toned.......but I might be wrong...the 1886 looks particularly suspect because the toning goes...
