Hey folks! I haven't made a thread in about a week, so I wanted to showcase this 1881-S Morgan dollar that I got from one of the local coin shops...
Probably a MS62+. My grading standards would bump the obverse down to a 61, but the reverse is a solid 64.
I'm at a 61. This dollar probably lived in a bank bag for a long time. But don't fear- any MS CC dollar is worth a ton!
That's actually quite an honest statement! Although I don't nessecarily know how many coins like to land on the side. ;) Another true statement...
I... guess I did well then? LOL I do try to make them logical, but sometimes I do flat-out make screw-ups. My favorites, though, are some of the...
I've recently come up with a sequel to my original coin joke thread. Here are some new ones: Overheard in a coin club meeting: "So, how'd your...
Looks like a die crack with a slightly small planchet. A die crack usually doesn't raise the value of a coin, but it depends on who buys it.
I'm thinking a details grade. The hits look deep enough to be considered minor scratches, but if not details, then MS-64.
Ditto.
I thought that Britain had switched to the second bust of QEII by then. Still cool that they would've kept the flowing hair design! If I'm...
Have you found any Morgan/Peace dollars? I know that some people do in rolls "full of Ikes". I haven't found one yet but I hope to, just like a...
Randy couldn't have said it better. Individuals will naturally pay more for a coin than a shop because individuals often use it for investing and...
I've gotta go with Pickin and Grinin on this one. It appears to be a lamination error. It's a mint error in a way, and it's worth saving for sure....
Looks like a low MS, but definitely prooflike. I wouldn't call it a DMPL unless I can see it firsthand, but I'm guessing roughly MS62PL. However,...
Likely an AU-53.
Just look it up under NGC Ancients, and it's there. I looked it up and all the details of the coin are there. Hopefully this helps!
I've broken up a mint set as well. I am currently working on a quarter book and a dime book, so I took my 1968 mint set and put those 2 coins in...
WhaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAttttt? How did you manage this? You could pay this month's bills with those!
Here's one that's worth roughly $1,000 (PR68 or above): [ATTACH]
I can see what you're pointing out now. I think it's the wild hair that they relied on, as it does look like that the barely controllable hair...
