It's the C3 legend Doug, in the C series the obverse legends end like this: C1 EVCEB, C2 EVCE, C3 EVC, C4 EV, C5 E. So that makes your coin 3652.
Ouch, that's gotta hurt. My LCS is almost paranoid, they won't buy coins worth more than $200 (apiece) if they aren't slabbed. It works I guess.
When I look closely there do seem to be some other letters. Are there any other varieties with longer mint marks/whatever?
