patination is a natural even toning of the coin, some of the absurd rainbow colouration that we sometimes see is at best ugly and at worst...
you will love the french 14th century coins as well they are truly beautiful coins.
personally i do not like toned coins even if they are genuine, i will only buy one if it is the only example of that coin availlable at the time,...
