Would like to post somethin' but photobouquet is in "maintenance" mode.
I agree that a long languid acetone bath is in order.
I guess that as something of a purist I think 58 should just be just high point rub; this one has some loss of luster in part of the left obv...
LOL, thanks, I could sense the tension building, for some reason..
Thanks for all the guesses and comments. The assigned grade is.... AU58! Some of you have very sharp eyes for spotting rub! I have a hard time...
Looks about 66 to me too.
I think VG8 too. Lighting may accentuate random shallow marks, I don't think I would call it "scratched/cleaned" without an in hand exam.
Absolutely right. static photos can only reveal so much, and Peace Dollars are especially hard to grade from photos. Keep the guesses coming,...

Some further understanding about how lines on planchets may be preserved during striking can be gained by reading Dan Carr's posts of an...
Terrific 1820 cbh, Larry. I'm looking for that date but more in the vf-low xf range.
The 2 images just posted by Mainebill look like the same coin to me; identical marks in front of the neck and in the hair behind the ear. Thanks...
I find the marks on the neck very distracting. I think waiting is the right decision.
Beautiful group of quarters, Larry! In fact I like all of the coins posted so far.
