I don't know about documented DDR's of this issue, but in the photo's the serifs on the Ls and R in Dollar look like they may be split. Are they?

I use good old mineral oil (sold as a laxative) for the same purpose. wipe off with a tissue and then a little windex and no oil residue.

From the photos, looks like a lot of vertical striations on the left side of the obv suggesting a cleaning. Might be different in hand, of course.
