Could this be a doubled die? Obverse of a 1969s cent. I see no other (doubling?) anywhere else on the coin.
The reverse looks really bad, but no peeling...
If someone tried to plate the cent (not sure what that is) wouldn't the cent weigh more? This cent weighs less than a copper and more than a zinc.
What causes this top layer to peel away like this?
