I stand corrected. Thanks @Islander80-83, @Collecting Nut, and @cpm9ball. I’ve seen what y’all are describing before but never paid much attention...
I meant in 2008:facepalm:
All cents minted at San Francisco (S) were proofs. You can check the red book.
It is damage. The metal migration is shown in the pictures. PMD. Circulated coins can get some weird damage.
I’m with Islander on this.
Welcome to CT! That’s not an uncirculated coin. It has environmental damage that has affected the surfaces. The edge is also damage.
Love this conversation. I’ve found many clad coins that have this same anomaly. My conundrum is.... is it improper alloy, roller lines, or a wash...
Unfortunately this is DDD, die deterioration doubling. http://doubleddie.com/144843.html Read this.;)
Pictures 1,2,4, and 5 are die chips. #3 looks like PMD. Cuds include the rim of the coin. http://cuds-on-coins.com/cuds/

It’s ok to me, I understand. You should have heard what I said when I found my first... but this is a family friendly site;). Check CC, VV, and...
Easy on the language friend. You need to check the die markers for that variety. The die markers are the key for attribution! You are getting there!:)
It depends on the condition of the coin. It will bring a small premium to folks like me that collect LC RPMS. Condition is everything. Nice find!
Did you look @Islander80-83 post? Did you also look at the link I provided?
IDK, hopefully a response. That area looks like a precud to me. Maybe I’m wrong, wouldn’t be the first time
This is where I was talking about.
It appears to be a die crack, probably a pre-cud. It’s not listed, but you can check here....
Unfortunately this is just a hit. PMD, post mint damage. E PLURIBUS UNUM is incused, therefore most damage will appear on top (raised) above those...
