Thanks Steve. I thought they looked like really nice examples of engraving, but wasn't sure if they were worth it. I normally collect only for my...
Find any overpunched dates yet?
I'd have to go with the uncleaned group. I think the "cleaning" was done by fingers, hands and pockets during circulation.
Really nice ones!
It's just a guess since Europeans use that date format and we in the USA typically don't. I'm not sure about Canada.
Based on the way the dates are stated, 29.5.1917 instead of 5.29.1917, I'm guessing it's a European made medal/token.
Hah - same here. And I did walk a couple miles to school, but not 20 LOL! I think my dad used the term "2 bits" more than i ever did, but never...
Forgive me if this has already been discussed. I'm not much of a paper money collector - mostly coins. Any guesses on whether or not this series...
Nice history behind the "wizard" counterstamp. Hopefully you'll be able to get one sometime in the future. If I ever see one available I'll try to...
Conder101 - nice information - thanks! Collect89 - I'm interested now in what/who that "wizard" counterstamp was associated with?
I'd consider that a seller scam, not an Ebay/Paypal scam.
No comment on the "serious buyer" :)
Bummer on the one you got being an actual fake.
To add a bit more "confusion" on the term "nickels", the Red & Blue book refers to them as "Nickel five-cent pieces".
I didn't think that you disagreed. :) The Bashlows are an interesting subject, and I'm learning more about them than I knew before, which is a...
No thanks. I'm too honest to do that. If I hadn't received it, or it fell out before I got it, then I'd let the seller know, and go from there.
I guess it's all in what one considers a counterfeit. The types the OP has could be called second restrikes, and weren't meant to fool anyone.
I don't think the original Bashlow's can be called counterfeits - they were plainly marked as restrikes by the altered dies. As you said, there...
Wow - those really are thick!
I was referring to the starting bid on the pennyondime, that nobody went after - not the Kennedy.
Separate names with a comma.
