If you have a serial you can put the coin into a registry, either custom or competitive. Also you can look up the coin on the NGC verification page.
I think the serial may be on the reverse?

YUCK. PCGS should buy this back and some of the recent coins I've seen that were straight graded but had graffitti that was so noticeable
