If it's actually copper colored, I'd say it is an arcade token planchet. They are generally brass and approximate size and weight of a quarter.

It's more in the one cent range, just a normal 1982 cent. Asking prices on ebay is definitely not the place to do research!
I would suggest studying up on real errors, Error-Ref.com , you can save yourself a lot of time and aggravation if you know what to look for...
As in your other post, if the 1983 D is the one that weighs 2.54 then both coins are completely normal.
Perfectly normal if the 1982 is 3.09 and the 1983 is 2.54.

Mint marks used to be punched into each die by hand, if it was punched a little light, that would result in a slightly thinner looking mintmark....
Who knows, the sellers reputation may have kept bidders away from a perfectly fine coin, doesn't hurt to hope. Good luck.

Wrong, if you did actual solid research you would know that a silver dime planchet is not attracted to a magnet and would be smaller than a cent....
I said other, my main focus is pre Federal, colonial and state coinage. Particularly Connecticut coppers but I dabble in others as well.
