are those scans? if so I don't know much about how to adjust settings on a scanner. just play with the settings until you get a pic that looks...
If your camera doesn't have a macro setting , it is probably not going to take the kind of pics you are hoping for. One thing you can try though...

I think alot of what you are seeing is due to the lighting he uses..on his Morgans anyway. If you look you can see contact marks and frost breaks...
