I think a similar phenomenon can be seen with the scarcer Jefferson nickels, which no longer carry the premiums they used to.

Very relevant piece, especially with recent interest in MMT (modern monetary theory) and expansion of the money supply to stimulate the economy.
In the case of the 20 mils coins, they cost many multiples of what you would pay for base metal coinage from other countries from the same period.
Just be prepared to part with some ridiculous sums, especially for the 20 mils and 100 mils coins.
Wouldn't touch that piece with a ten foot poker.

It is a Dansco, but I think that they were making them as part of a contract for a different company (Nielson).
