The word rare means not found in large numbers and consequently of interest or value. Hundreds of thousands of anything disqualifies it as rare....

If the coin is genuine, it will command a small premium over melt value, but the surfaces of that coin lead me to believe that it may be a cast...

I would agree with the above and only add that you should return ALL of the coins unless THEY offer one (some) as a reward for your honesty.
ASEs sell for a small premium over melt, but if you go to sell one, expect to receive melt value and nothing more. If you do, again, good on you.
If you can get a premium over melt for this coin, good on you. 1964s in particular are common in pristine condition. This coin is average at best....
