It looks XF to me, and quite attractive - with original skin. The hit on the lip probably doesn't bother me as much as it would most people.

This was probably painted for use as a 'house quarter' to feed the jukebox with in a bar. Not a common practice anymore, but it once was.

I think he is looking to see if it is a rare overdate variety: 1942/1. The 'S' mintmark precludes it from being one of those, though.
