These were promoted in 2005-06 but have since sunken into obscurity. The so called "speared Bison" is still in demand today.
The '69-S is an easy one to attribute. Your coin isn't it.
Lighthouse makes a similar page to the one from Eagle. You can get these at Wizard Coin Supply http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/
OK here.
"You must also remember that proof coins are struck twice." I believe proof coins are struck just once on a hydraulic press. I'll check on this...
Amazing! Congratulations to you! Looks very close to Mint State if not a full Mint State coin.
I've written a book on the Buffalo nickel abraded die varieties but I have no 1913 Var 1 (or Var 2) listed. There is a 1913-D Var 1 2 feathers....
Intact obv rim so I'd say FN12.
BTW-it's a large date.
Die deterioration + classic machine doubling. Way too much of this junk on ebay, both by seller who just don't know any better and by sellers who do.
One characteristic of the small date that may be easy to see is the weakness of the last part of LIBERTY, tho a few large date dies also show this...
Even a worm Satin proof would show extraordinary detail above the braid-over 90% were fully struck-a feature rarely seen (with the exception of...
That's the biggest problem with the listing-that some bidiot will fall for it. Then again-maybe they deserve what they get.
This guy is an unmitigated fool. Every one of his listings is bogus. He must have been the idiot that paid to slab a coin worth 1c.
There are two die stages of this variety-one with just the hub doubling (the good kind) which is Die Stage "A" and one with additional machine...
While looking at all those common 1980 cents and 1965 quarters you might want to keep an eye open for the nice doubled dies that can be found on both.
Time to get it authenticated. I'd send it to ANACS first-lower cost and they could determine if it's the real deal. If genuine, then I'd get it...
There are actually 11 different mis-hubbings on the proof 1955 nickel. Die #1 is the tripled die. See the CONECA master listing...
BigTee44-is there a depression to the left of the spurious "1?"
I think it's a genuine coin but the "1" has been "chased" from the field. It's definitely had some kind of alteration done at the date.
Separate names with a comma.
