They are. Before this year, I averaged one IHC every ~$500 of cents searched. This year has killed that average.
Nice find. It's been months since I've pulled an IHC.
I like that thunderbolt! This is my favorite thunderbolts: [ATTACH] Antoninus Pius Denarius Obverse: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP Laureate head right...
Across his bust is what looks like a lamination, like I said originally. https://www.error-ref.com/?s=lamination Here is an example I own: [ATTACH]
It could drop the weight. Not sure if whizzing does the same, but it does give that crazy wavy pattern.
Looks like it was dipped in acid. The line across the obverse like it was a potential lamination.
Wonderful coins and photography! I hope you and yours get well soon!

2 boxes of halves and 2 boxes of quarters on Christmas Eve: Halves: 2x90% (62D, 64P) 2x40% (67) 1 Proof (82S) 1 NIFC (87P) Quarters: 2x64P 2xW...
Here are two beautiful silvered coins from the tetrarchy. They were part of this year's Secret Saturnalia gifts for FFIVN and my daughter. Before...
Back in the day, they would dip them in mercury. Handle with care.
That is a beautiful artefact! Before I read the write-up, I thought it looked like Faustina II. Perhaps it's just the hairstyle. Though I'm sure...
Better that it was just one thread instead of clogging up with extra garbage. :)
Not struck through. She's just chopping that tree down with her tiny shovel :)
Yup, that's a "BIE". You're not completely blind.
Yeah when I opened it and peeled the flip back, the staple ran across his head/hair.
@potty dollar 1878 is correct on the Maples. 1988 was the first year.
