It could be a matron head large cent. They weigh 10.89 grams and are 28.5 mm. in diameter. 1 1/8 inch is approximately 28.575 mm.
I believe the ring near the rim is caused by a worn out die.

Yep, it's crimper damage. It's kind of deceiving with the crimper ring inline with the design.
