This coin I just bought this morning looks like it could be N-22 by the date position. Pics are not good as they are taken at an angle....

1853 N-13 R-1
1852 looks like N-17 R-1
1851 looks like n-6 r-1
looks like 1850 is n-15 r-2
I would think they would fix the error yes.
Date position was my first go to. As far as early vs late die stage there are lines on reverse that are visible early but not in late stage.
Going with N-20 late die state on the 1849 R-1
1848 looks like N-35 which is R-2
