Well I am not Paul but I agree with your assessment that you could not use this methodology on toned coins becuase usually the grade on the holder...
I would go so far as to say that I believe the weaking of the market actually started in 2007 but certainly continued through 2008 and even 2009....

All I will say is that I use Ebay ended auctions as a price guide personally and it has served me well as a part time dealer becuase I am selling...
I don't believe there is much of a premium to be had for curculated toned Morgans. I used to own several in PCGS holders and I think I sold them...
I wonder if we can buy just the nickels...?
