Placed about 12 bids in a recent auction here in the UK and got nothing. Just shows how the market is overhere I guess. Can CT members help out on what pic2ct.jpg you might consider the this coin might be worth......it's graded as uncirculated and looks pretty good to my not particularly experienced eye. picct.jpg

Since the silence was deafening.............found out from Noble Numismatics in Australia that the coin is worth approx $500........$1000 Aus...........so just dropped my rather generous bid ............Marbury518

When it comes to coin valuations, nothing is definative it seems. ;)

    newfoundland 2 dollar

The valuation from Noble Numismatics was quite a bit lower that I'd seen them going for on the Net but with all the extra auction house charges on top, I think I've put in a more sensible offer.........but clearly a risk of being unsuccessful on the day of course.........Julian

    That is a pretty coin.

I don't know what the 3-dot variety would do to the auction price. I saw a couple of the Newfoundland 2-dollars selling at the Heritage auction in Boston last week. You might check the Heritage auction archives for past auction prices.
