First online listing of ATB 5 ounce silver bullion coins

Discussion in 'Bullion Investing' started by TopcatCoin, Jun 25, 2010.

  1. There is an article in this week's Coin World on them (p.4) including mintages (higher then expected) and potential release date (later than expected). TC

You could ask or try to set the market at whatever you wanted, whether those in the market paid it would be another story. Maybe I took out some frustration with the "rip-off" crowd on here on you, but I'm really tired of the whining and moaning about companies that work on the slimmest of margins. You are one that has no problem whining about what you think a rip-off is, but I don't think you really know what one is. Even if they set the price at $175, you have a choice to buy or not, nobody will ever hold a gun to your head and tell you to hit the "buy now" icon, will they?

Read my last post again, it's not sinking in. Do you really believe if they're sold for $175 only a small profit will be made?

Can anyone with a Coin World subscription pass along exactly what the new release schedule is?

By the way, is it normal for the Mint to be this opaque about when it's going to sell something?

They've now had these listed for 80 days, and still not offered for sale. Anybody have any idea what's up with these?

I talked with a dealer in a shop yesterday about them.....He has heard nothing, and has no idea when He would get them in IF there was a demand for them.(I guess nobody has inquired about them) He seems to think that the mint is going to somewhat gouge the authorized dealers for them, and by the time the average dealer gets them they would be a little too expensive. Idk.

Personally I`m steering clear of them too.....and no, not because I`m too cheap and think that they should be priced closer to spot.....I think that making them 5 ounces is nice, but at the same time overkill. I would of liked to have seen a 2, maybe 3 ounce round myself.

  12. Silver spot is spiking right now which of course would make these more pricey. If they release all 5 at once or very close together toward at the end of this year, many people (including me) are going to pass. TC

I think everyone should ask themselves whether they will be happy paying up for these things when they look at their collection a few years from now, or if they will wish they had just put the money into ASEs. It's a novelty bullion item in my opinion, and probably worth only a small premium to melt for the weight and purity assurance of the US Mint.

I keep trying to picture an album that would hold a whole set of these things.

I am going to hold out and wait for silver to drop unless the mintage starts looking real low then i might break down and buy them at these silver prices.

I noticed APMX priced their coins high when they just came out (like canadian wolf). What would be the reasonable price for these coins?
