http://mintnewsblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/2010-proof-silver-eagle-update.html This specifically deals with the Silver Eagles but there is some speculation on the probability of Gold Eagles as well.
Not until the legislation is amended they're not. However, just in case they are issued this year, anyone interested should set up their subscriptions on the Mint website. Demand will be swift on release day with back orders sure to follow.
These are the sorts of amendments that slip through with relative ease, especially if it means political points -- which this would for Senators in every state.
Like I said already, mostly in regards to your misleading thread title, "Not until the legislation is amended they're not." I want these coins to be issued as much as the next Eagle collector. I wrote to my state Senators last year and again this year expressing my frustration and disappointment about the collector versions being cut. I implored them to carry my message to the appropriate offices in Washington. Anyone with a passion for these coins should do the same. I also suggest anyone interested in seeing this legislation amended follow up with their elected officials promptly to help secure a favorable vote.
The W eagles are proofs right? And they did already release 2010 uncirculated silver eagles, correct?
There could be as many as three versions of ASE released each year: • 2010 ASE Unc. bullion (no mintmark) have been released. Mintage is currently up around 20 million pieces! ASE Collector versions: • 2010 ASE Proof "W" mintmark • 2010 ASE Unc. "W" mintmark versions I'm uncertain about the intended future offering of AGE coins after last year, however: • 2010 AGE Unc. bullion (no mintmark) have been released in: 1 oz., 1/2 oz., 1/4 oz. and 1/10 oz. AGE Collector versions pending: [MAY ONLY INCLUDE 1 oz. coins and NO fractionals unless they resume issue with pending legislation amendment] • 2010 AGE Proof "W" mintmark • 2010 AGE Unc. "W" mintmark versions
They're on pace to make approximately 40 million ASE bullion coins this year, and if they couldn't make them last year when they made 30 million....I don't see it happening.
Make sure you get your subscriptions in with the Mint though. I've got a feeling that if (when) this does happen it's gonna be quick.....
I completely disagree. A round price like $50.00 is an uncommon figure for the US Mint to use to sell their products. The price may be $36.95, $42.95 or $49.95, but certainly NOT a round number as you have posited.
I will believe it when my two show up in my mail box!!! until then Moy will find a way to not mint a AME silver Proof for 2010.he did for 2009 and Moy has been tiring to end AME silver Proof for 4 years .why I do not know
Well either way if they make them or not - there will always be that hole where the 2009 should be....
I secretly hope then DON'T issue the W mintmark ASEs this year because it makes the existing coins a bit more special.
