Ok... I know it was called the 2009 Challenge because it started at the end of 2009, but it's really the 2010 challenge, right??? Anyways, since the old threads don't bump and we're at about the halfway point of the competition (which ends December 1, 2010) I figured a new discussion thread was appropriate so we could all catch up and get a status update. Here's a link to everyone's list of holdings for the competition: http://www.cointalk.com/t82242/ Here are links to some of the previous discussion threads: http://www.cointalk.com/t79338/ http://www.cointalk.com/t82243/ http://www.cointalk.com/t91425/ :kewl: Anyways, here's how my $10,000 portfolio is doing at about the halfway mark: 40 x 1908-S IHC in G04 - $70 each x 40 = $2800 8 x 1909-O Quarters in AU55 - $600 each x 8 = $4800 160 x 2009 FS Silver Eagles in MS63 - $22 each x 160 = $3520 Total value = $11,120 not too shabby The G04 '08-S was a little higher earlier in the year, but has dropped back down a little. The '09-O quarters haven't moved yet, but the Guide is still way off on these. I'd pay double or triple that price for any PCGS AU55 example. Hopefully the Guide updates the price into reality within the next few months! And since BNB can't post his results, his update is: 555 x 1986 Silver Eagles in MS63 - $22 each x 555 = $12,210!!! How about the rest of ya?????? Can anyone top BNB????? Still lots of time left until December 1, 2010 though! Mike
This is hypothetical, right? You didn't really sink 10 g's into this, right? Was Tom "drank too many" Coronas right? Please tell me no....please!!!
Well I didn't put a real $10k into my challenge portfolio... can't speak for the others though. Also, just got my YouTube subscriptions update and this one from BNB was in the mix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gkxx4w8y2gE
BNB's also remains the leader in lacking humility, gloating over himself in his suck-cesspool of internet infamy. The kid can't even pronounce Illini properly [Ill-eye-nigh] but rather goes with "ill-e-knee"... What a narcissistic weenie.
ill e ne... I always thought it was short for Illinois. Like the Fighting Illini but hey he's winning. That video's great...lol
Yeah, I've noticed that folks from the east coast have difficulty in pronouncing Illini... must be the very large Italian population out east and people read it like it's a type of pasta or something, hahaha...
In the off-chance B&B is lurking... It's good to see you got a haircut since your last video...you were looking a bit "Howard Hughes-ish". Two words of advice (and I say this with all sincerity and best intentions)..."Air Force" :secret:
I thought I had pmed my picks, I guess not, but all they were were commemorative gold coins that were at the time listed under spot price. (I think they were ms-63?) I had figured that even if Gold prices remained static that people would buy them under melt price, and the prices would rise towards melt values. Maybe I sent the pm to the wrong p?
Looks like I'm up $44.00. Not alot of movement with my others. I wish I could assume some were +'s lol... DRAPED BUST DOLLAR 1795 G-4 $ 1,150.00 Centered +$50.00 WASHINGTON QUARTER 1983P MS-67 $ 1,650.00 +$100.00 1932S MS-63 $ 950.00 (-$100.00) 1941D MS-63 $ 60.00 (-$5.00) 1947S MS-63 $ 16.00 (-$1.00)
he really knows what he's doing!!! at least he keeps trying to tell us that. I wish his "stylist" knew what he was doing as well. Looks like he's now going for the metrosexual look. He says he can bring traffic. I say that he brings aggravation and we're better off without him. Hundreds of forums that have already banned him can't all be wrong...

technically it was a coin investment challenge. bullion should have been closed off since it changes on a consistant day by day basis while actual coins take more time, but it wasn't. not that hard to invest in a bunch of bullion coins and do well if you ask me. the down side is that the trend is in his favor and bullion is looking like it is going up and up and up.
The Fighting Illini sounds more like a nasty divorce in the family of a highwire act at the circus. Chris
calling names is not a very good way to get started on coin talk, There have been threads where the subject of collecting coins from pariah states has been hashed over pretty well. The basic motive of those who collect third reich, krugerrands, soviet coinage, or others is that it is history. No collector here has posted such coins and has said, "I collect these because Hitler was cool, the Socialists with a nationalistic focus had the ideology right. Everytime a collector posts a third reich coin people remember the reason why those coins are controversial, and not forgetting is a way to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past.
My collecting interests are purely historical, they don't represent anything that I believe in. Someone from a Jewish background should certainly understand a desire to remember the Third Reich and what they did so that it will never happen again. No need for name calling...here or on my visitor messages my friend. Although, it's probably deserved. I did call BNB a tool...which is probably who you are.
