I am working on my first batch to send in myself to PCGS for grading. Wanting to start slow with 5-10 coins, and want to avoid making mistakes. Would this be one to submit ? Thanks guys
First off, you cannot accurately grade a coin without seeing BOTH sides of the coin. Secondly, you have a 62/63 1970-S LD cent. It might be worth 10¢. Why do you want to spend $30 or so to grade it?
OK, cool. WhenI compared it to a pic of a 1970 S small date that was graded by PCGS, I thought it was a small date also ? In fact the date looked like an exact overlay and the "LIBERTY" seemed to match ? Of course, there would be no point in grading a large date.
That would explain why you wanted to grade it. And if you look you at the 9 the tail points towards the bottom of the 7 - so it is a large date. There is a thread on here somewhere that shows that - if I get some energy I might search for it.
Even if it were a SD, it would still be worth less than $40 in that condition. Unless you have a way of getting them graded cheaply (they do exist), I still cannot see how it would make sense or cents.
the 70s small date usually has the liberty fading and the large proofs have several errors also. Ive got most. Also look at the center of the 0 it looks very small usually also.
What I did, and I hate to admit it, was there were 5 folders I found in the box of junk coins left by mom. I saw the small & large date holes were filled and there was about 60 loose 1970 S cents that I sorted out of a coffee can of cents. I took them out of the folders because they looked alike to me. Now I cannot see well enough to seperate them to put them back. Now before I get bawled out, I am going to blame the meds. I am sticking to that no matter what. But now I have all these 1970 S cents that likely have a few small dates among them that I simply cannot differentiate. LOL Man, I am stuck here. So I am scanning them 1 at a time to see if someone can tell me what each one is. Thanks

You can probably save yourself heaps of time scanning a bunch at a time, as many as the scanner bed will fit. Someone here(not me) will surely spot the small date pretty quickly once they see them all in 1 picture. Just keep them all sorted in order of the scan so you know which one it is afterward
I don't know how to load a picture yet to this message. but I put a 1970s large date on my album page this coin was pulled from proof set with strong doubling on in god we trust and liberty I would have professional grade start price is 75.00 and this coin has only been change to a flip for now. never touched by hands.
We didn't see any when I did 49 of them and a D LOL. Like I may have said, vision is almost a necessity and mine is getting bad. I did scan 6 groups of 9 and put them in envelopes. I can toss a few out, I think and put only the questionables in a single grouping. Hopefully, I will feel up to it tomorrow ? But it is becoming an obsession to find at least 1. :goofer:
