Wow that is stunning, Canada always does a great job with their bullion coins. I only wish I had 5k to buy one :/

  5. That is a great looking coin. I would love to see it in silver too. TC

That's one heck of a coin! With a Limited Mintage of 200 pieces to boot!

wow, this coin sure looks beautiful. but I don't think they do a good job for the 1-oz maple leaf. well, I guess they really can't do much if you are only allowed to have the queen's image and a maple leaf on the coin.

    Eye Candy for the Gullible

This new 5oz coin represents a branch of the Canadian government out of control.Since 1992,the Royal Canadian Mint has produced 60 different $.25 pieces, including one with a moose wearing sunglasses.Yes that's right,a Moose with sunglasses. From 1970-2010 they have given us 48 different silver dollars. They have also produced 34 different coins to commemorate the 2010 winter Olympics.Hundreds more of ugly coins besides the ones I mention have also been produced. This is clearly a lot of overpaid idiots with to much time on their hands having fun at the tax payers expense.
These are the same people that in 2009 misplaced [or stole] 15.3 million dollars worth of gold only to later blame it on an accounting error.
This is what I think of the new 5 oz gold coin. This new coin is small compared to 4 other different 2009 issues containing 1000 grams each.Issue price for one of these was only $54,000.00
That's what I think of the new 5oz coin.

That 5 ouncer surely is eye candy, I do not think it is only eye candy for the gullible, I think everyone that appreciates beauty would appreciate that coin.

9495$, quite a premium over spot. For some people tho under 10k for a coin is very doable. I think it is good marketing, since it seems to me that paper money collectors might be attracted to a coin with a design that is inspired by a paper money vignette
